Song Request Form
The Nashua Stake keeps a list of songs that are approved for playing at stake dances. Use this form to request that a song get added to the list.
Before you submit a song request, please carefully consider the following standards from “For the Strength of Youth” and the Church’s Handbook of Instructions:
For the Strength of Youth - Music and Dancing
“Choose carefully the music you listen to. Pay attention to how you feel when you are listening. Some music can carry evil and destructive messages. Do not listen to music that encourages immorality or glorifies violence through its lyrics, beat, or intensity. Do not listen to music that uses vulgar or offensive language or promotes evil practices. Such music can dull your spiritual sensitivity.”
”Does the music I listen to invite the Spirit?”
Church Handbook of Instructions - Dances and Music
“In all dances, the dress, grooming, lighting, dancing styles, lyrics, and music should contribute to an atmosphere where the Spirit of the Lord can be present (see For the Strength of Youth). Those who oversee dances should carefully follow the policies outlined below. The beat of the music, whether instrumental or vocal, should not overshadow the melody. The volume should be low enough to allow two people who are standing side by side to hear each other as they carry on a normal conversation.”
